The index records can be searched by surname and forename of apprentice, parent and master, county/country of parent's residence, year of indenture (contract binding youth as apprentice to a master) and livery company to which the master belonged.

Use New Style dates
Use only New Style dates when searching. The year in some abstracts appears in both Old and New Style, eg. 1 Jan 1679/80.
Old Style and New Style dates What are Old Style and New Style dates?

Father's occupation
Father's occupation may be displayed in the search results. This field is not searchable, however, since (a) it is not always present, and (b) there is wide variability in the contents of the field. Its presence may be helpful for research purposes.

NameX
NameX is a proprietary name-matching tool which allows you to find family records for names which have common variations in spelling or which may have been spelled incorrectly on some records.
